Jazz Band comprises musicians who wish to gain experience in musical idioms based on the “Jazz Tradition.” These include Early Jazz, Swing, Bebop, Modal Jazz, Blues, Fusion, and Funk. The Jazz Ensemble is an elite group which performs at concerts and competitive festivals. Guest artists perform as well as conduct clinics with the ensemble regularly. Extensive practice outside of class is expected. Instruments accepted are trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, bass, drums, guitar, and auxiliary percussion. Attendance at all rehearsals and performance is required.
